Gala Tent owner to launch South Yorkshire steak house chain

Jason Mace, the founder of highly successful marquee business Gala Tents, is planning to launch a chain of steak houses across South Yorkshire.

Mace set up Gala Tents fifteen years ago and has now grown it into a multi-million pound business that is the UK’s largest designer and manufacturer of tents, marquees and gazebos. The company also operates out of an office in China, where a number of the innovative patented in-house shelters it has designed are developed and made.

Regarding the new steak house business, Mace has acquired the Double Barrel public house, on Brampton Road, Thurcroft, and will now invest £80,000 on refurbishing it before re-opening the site next month. It will employ around a douzen staff.

This is not Mace’s first array in licensed trade, he bought the closed Park View Bar and restaurant close to Gala’s headquarters in Farfield Park and re-opened it as a sports bar and restaurant, complete with a function suite decked out to resemble the interior of a marquee.

Mace said: “We’ve a tried and tested plan that has worked so well for the Park View pub and we’ll be using this winning formula for the new steakhouse. I’m hoping this will be the first of many steakhouses we’ll be opening in South Yorkshire.”
