£400k revamped Co-op to open next week in Chester

The Co-op is to serve up a new-look food store in Tarvin, Chester next Thursday, 14 February, following a major investment to better serve the community.

The store, located in Bypass Road, relaunches following a £400k makeover and includes a Costa coffee dispenser, in-store bakery, hot food and customer car parking, alongside its increased focus on fresh, healthy foods, a new health and well-being range, award winning wines, meal ideas and, essentials.

The store – which provides 18 full and part time local jobs – is also recruiting for at least two new positions, a customer team member and team leader. Applicants with a passion for food, customer service and community can find out more in store.

Peter Baumber, Store Manager – who has worked for the Co-op for 20 years, said, “We are delighted to have the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Tarvin. The store has a great new-look and range to better serve the needs of our local community and, those passing through.

'I would like to thank our customers for their support during the works, and we look forward to welcoming them back into their new-look store. It’s all about getting closer to our members and customers, providing what they want, need and care about, conveniently.

'We also want customers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op. Simply by swiping their membership card when they shop with us our Members make a difference, as the Co-op gives back to the community and raises much needed funding for organisations in the area who contribute to improving local life.”

The new-look Co-op brings a funding boost for local causes through the Co-op’s Membership scheme – Members receive 5% reward when they swipe their Membership card when buying own brand products, with the Co-op donating a further 1% to local causes which currently include: the Tarvin Community Centre; Duddon St Peter’s Primary School PTA and, Tarvin Nursery and Pre-School.

Students holding the NUS extra (TOTUM) card receive a 10% discount off their groceries at the Co-op to support them during their studies.
