Carlisle hotel changes hands

Cumbria Park Hotel, a substantial hotel situated in the centre of Carlisle, a historic city and county town of Cumbria, has been sold via Christie & Co to Sterling Woodrow, a property investment firm based in the South East of England.

The three star hotel occupies several converted, previously residential properties close to the city centre, and features 55 ensuite bedrooms, a newly refurbished bar, restaurant, multiple events and meeting spaces, and independently accessed leisure facilities.

Cumbria Park Hotel was owned and operated by hotelier Dean Barnes, who has sold the hotel after seven years of ownership in order explore new opportunities within the hospitality sector.

He commented, “The Cumbria Park Hotel has been a fantastic business to run over the last seven years and I wish the new owners all the best in their future plans to develop the business further.”

Robert Horwood, Director at Sterling Woodrow who headed up the deal, commented, “Sterling Woodrow are delighted with the acquisition and we are looking forward to adding more hotels to the group.”

Ryan Lynn, Director at Christie & Co who handled the sale, said, “It has been a pleasure to be involved this transaction on behalf of Dean and work with Robert to push things along as the sale progressed. Everyone involved worked hard to get us to completion, ending up with a swift sale which took just a few months start to finish.

'I wish Dean all the best with his future ventures and am sure that Sterling Woodrow will take the business from strength to strength.”
