Beese’s Riverside Bar in Bristol comes to market

One of Bristol’s best loved and iconic venues, Beese’s Riverside Bar, is for sale via Fleurets. Often described as ‘a hidden gem’, Beese’s was founded in 1846 by Mrs Anne Beese to provide refreshments to travellers and workers using or crossing the river.

The Beese family also ran the Conham ferry which continues to cross from Beese’s to the steps on the Hanham side of the river during opening hours. Set beside a pleasantly wooded stretch of the River Avon, the beautiful gardens are a haven of tranquillity on the outskirts of Bristol with regular scheduled visits from the Bristol boat companies.

Currently open six months a year, Beese’s offers a popular bar menu and cream teas to visitors from Friday to Sunday as well as being a thriving wedding, party and music venue throughout the spring and summer months.

The current owners have decided that after several happy years of running Beese’s and making considerable improvements during their time there, it’s now the right time to pass on the reins.

The business, including the ferry, is to be sold with the picturesque three bedroom cottage that provides comfortable owner’s accommodation, a small bakery and spectacular views of the river.

The property is to be marketed by Kevin Conibear at Fleurets who commented, “Beese’s is a well-known venue within Bristol, occupying a stunning riverside position, providing an oasis in close proximity to the city centre. The venue attracts considerable trade given its accessibility by boat, car and on foot.”
