Two Newcastle restaurants bought out of administration

Rapidly growing development firm, High Street Group has bought the Fat Buddha and Antler restaurants in Newcastle out of administration through RSM, saving 40 jobs.

Administrators were called into the Alpine bar and kitchen and Asian bar and eatery last Friday, just over a year after they opened.

The Fat Buddha bar and restaurant was initially bought by Gary Hutchinson, the former Sunderland AFC commercial director and head of Club Wembley, in 2017, as part of a new leisure company.

Hutchinson entered into a joint venture with London investors, and invested £750k into transforming the venue into the two separate bar and restaurants, which opened in June 2018.

Both sites, which are on situated at 55 Degrees North on Pilgrim Street, will unveil new looks in October.
