Mei Ume to celebrate Chinese festival with special menu

From 26 August to 13 September, Mei Ume at The Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square will celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

One of the most important dates in the Chinese calendar, the festival celebrates the harvest moon, with communities gathering for a night of feasting and toasting, which Mei Ume will mark with a menu of traditional Chinese dishes and intricately crafted mooncakes ready for the celebration on 13 September.

In honour of this auspicious festival, Head Chef Tony Truong has crafted a special menu with Crispy Soft Shell Crab, pan fried Wagyu Beef Gyoza, and Dim Sum prepared by Mei Ume’s dedicated team of dim sum chefs, filled with beef sui mai, mushroom and prawn.

Completing the menu will be prized Angus Beef wok fried in Black Pepper Sauce, pan-fried Sea-Bass, roasted Pork Fried Rice in Oyster Sauce, and Garlic and Ginger Pak Choi.

Taking centre stage are the emblems of the festival, mooncakes (pictured), which are traditionally gifted between friends and families on the eve of the harvest moon.

Mei Ume’s mooncakes will also be available to gift in a beautifully decorated box embellished with cherry blossoms. Truong has crafted four different iterations of the delicate pastries, both traditional and snow skinned. Reflecting the four seasons, flavours include Red bean paste and pine nuts; White lotus with salted egg; Vanilla and custard; and completing the quartet, Matcha.

Truong said, 'The mid-Autumn festival is always one of my favourite times of the year at Mei Ume. Back home in Guangzhou, it’s a joyful time when my family and friends gather for celebrations and to exchange mooncakes. We do the same here at Mei Ume and I look forward to sharing a mooncake with our guests.”
