TRG opens Barburrito at Gatwick Airport

TRG Concessions has announced that passengers at Gatwick Airport can now enjoy a taste of Mexico thanks to a brand new Barburrito now open in the departure lounge. The new unit is Barburrito’s third outlet in a UK airport and the chain’s first site in a London airport.

The first Barburrito opened in 2005 in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester by Founder and CEO Morgan Davies. The company is currently trading in 22 stores across 11 cities (London, Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool, Leeds, Nottingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen).

As in other locations across the UK, passengers at Gatwick Airport will now be able to enjoy a range of fresh burritos, tacos and nachos, all fully made to order and available to sit in or take on board their flight.

Barburrito will be fully equipped with six self-service kiosks, USB points and plug sockets for customers to charge phones and tablets, or even video call home. The self-service kiosks are a very first for the brand and we anticipate this cutting edge technology will aid passengers with their need for speedy ordering. Barburitto is the seventh TRG site currently operating in Gatwick, soon to be eight with the opening of Shake Shack scheduled later in October.

Nick Ayerst, Managing Director of TRG Concessions, said, “We are thrilled to open our third Barburrito unit at Gatwick Airport; a great brand to add to the portfolio here that will resonate with passengers and provide both great grab and go and sit down meal options.”

Morgan Davies, founder and CEO of Barburrito, commented, “I am delighted to be opening a third airport site at Gatwick Airport. Our food is perfect for travellers and the response from hungry holiday makers and commuters has been great. We are excited to be building on our relationship with TRG concessions with this venture.”

Michael Mcarthur, Food & Beverage Business Development Manager at Gatwick Airport, said, “Our North Terminal is currently going through a significant period of transition, and the opening of Barburrito is an exciting milestone in that development. It’s been great working with TRG on bringing this innovative restaurant concept to life.

“We have an impressive array of food and beverage outlets already in place at Gatwick, but Barburrito succeeds in offering something new for our passengers. I’m sure the Mexican inspired food and vibrant surroundings will establish Barburrito as a firm favourite for the future at Gatwick.”
