A taste of Lebanon is coming to The Oracle shopping centre, with Comptoir Libanais set to open its doors on Monday 17 July. This is the first Reading restaurant for Comptoir Libanais, which will be serving up humble, healthy and authentic Lebanese dishes, all day every day.
Comptoir will bring Lebanese home-cooking to the heart of Reading through a true souk dining experience with delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner options, all to be enjoyed in a fun environment with warm middle-eastern hospitality.
The menu at Comptoir Libanais is authentic, healthy and based on the Eastern Mediterranean diet and way of life, and includes dishes such as the ideal for sharing Mezze Platters - made from seven different mezze dishes, as well as Tagines and Couscous, Marinated Grills.
For beverages, there are refreshing Homemade Lemonades such as Pomegranate and Orange Blossom, Baklawa and fresh Rose Mint Tea. There’s also a large selection of tempting cocktails that have been created using flavours and ingredients of the Middle-East, as well as Lebanese wines and beers.
The restaurant has been designed to reflect a true souk experience just like in Beirut, Marrakech or Cairo. Guests can also buy items from the souk, which have been handmade by women from local villages and is a way to support small artisans in Lebanon and Morocco.
The new restaurant is situated on the waterfront of The Oracle shopping centre, providing a pit-stop for visitors to the shopping centre and locals alike. Comptoir Libanais is a true celebration of food, design and culture from the Middle East.
Founder Tony Kitous is passionate about every detail when it comes to the Comptoir experience. He explained, “I love everything about food. I want to share our food, traditions and the generous Lebanese culture with the world. It reminds me of my happy childhood back home and my dream is to make Lebanese food as popular as Italian food.
“Myself and my business partner Chaker Hanna are very passionate about our guests’ experience and we are really excited about the new opening in Reading. The new Comptoir is built in a very unusual and interesting space by the river in The Oracle shopping centre and we cannot wait to welcome our guests and spread the love of Lebanese food and culture.”
