Iconic Canadian restaurant brand, Tim Hortons has today announced the arrival of its first drive-thru restaurant in the North East, choosing Washington as the location for its newest venue.
The brand famed for its signature coffee, delicious donuts and Canadian charm, plans to open its doors to the local community in summer 2021, with a new Boldon site opening hot on its heels.
Located at the bustling Galleries Retail Park and equidistant from neighbouring cities, Durham, Newcastle and Sunderland, the new venue in Washington will offer dine-in seating for up to 105 guests and drive-thru services for those on-the-go. Delivery options will also be made available to those in the local area following the launch.
The new restaurant will create over 50 jobs for the local community and will offer a combination of full-time and part-time roles, with impressive progression and training opportunities. In addition, Tim Hortons will also be launching a brand-new drive thru venue in nearby Boldon, as the brand aims to make a big splash in the North East.
The new venue will bring a further 40 jobs to the local area and is planning to welcome guests later in the year.
The two new launches form part of the brand’s plan to create over 2,000 jobs across the country, bringing Tim Hortons restaurants to every major town and city by 2022.
From early summer, customers can expect Canada’s favourite coffee, freshly baked donuts and Timbits around the clock, as well as delicious breakfast, lunch and evening meal options, including hot sandwiches and wraps.
Known for its impressive opening giveaways, Washington locals and avid fans in the North East are encouraged to keep their eyes peeled and follow Tim Hortons® on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more news.
Kevin Hydes, Chief Commercial Officer of Tim Hortons franchise in the UK, said “The North East has been an area of interest to us for a long time, and so we’re thrilled to bring our first ever Tim Hortons restaurants to the region.
'We have a huge fanbase here and have had many requests to bring the brand to the area, so we expect it to be hugely popular with the local community and fans from neighbouring cities.”
He continued, “Washington has a fantastic community, and we feel it is a great location to mark our arrival here, with Boldon set to open soon after. We know there is a lot of talent in the area and look forward to recruiting for a variety of exciting part-time and full-time roles.
