Amadeus launches SK Coffee & Bakehouse

Amadeus has launched its latest F&B offering at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, as the business' live events calendar gears up for Christmas.

The leading live events caterer has unveiled SK Coffee & Bakehouse, an artisan, barista coffee shop serving cakes freshly baked by Amadeus’ in-house chefs.

There are two SK Coffee & Bakehouse outlets based on the NEC’s atrium plaza, as well as roving mobile units designed for in-hall catering.

The Bakehouse builds on the huge success of Str(EAT) Kitchen, which aimed to capture the theatre and excitement of street food in an exhibition setting, being launched at the venue back in 2019. Amadeus has seen increased demand for street food, with its themed, authentic stalls proving a hit with event goers.

Kane Bridgman, General Manager for Amadeus at the NEC, said, “We’re thrilled to launch SK Coffee & Bakehouse and initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“We wanted to showcase the best of what we can offer at the NEC – a barista coffee shop with a bakehouse style experience – giving visitors an out of hall experience where they can take the time to enjoy a delicious coffee.

“Our homemade cakes have been a particular hit for customers, already helping to generate more than £33,000 revenue since opening. Our bakery produces in excess of 185,000 portions of home baked cake each year to keep up with demand, with our signature lemon drizzle proving the most popular.”

Linda Ritchie, General Manager at the NEC, concluded, “SK Coffee & Bakehouse is just another example of how we’re continually trying to innovate and provide the best possible offerings for our customers.

“Amadeus has done a fantastic job in bringing the bakehouse to life, giving customers more choice and flexibility than ever before.”

Amadeus caters for seven million visitors a year at the NEC Group’s five world-class venues and more than 30 venues across the UK including visitor attractions, exhibition venues and conference centres.
