Experts in all things fizz, restaurateur and caterer Searcys, announces the release of its first ever own label English Sparkling Wine to mark its 175th anniversary, having launched in 1847!
The new bottle is available across its 19 venues and restaurants including Searcys at The Gherkin, St Pancras Brasserie and Champagne Bar, 116 Pall Mall, 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, the Barbican, The Pump Room in Bath and The Orangery at Blenheim Palace.
In collaboration with the award-winning Greyfriars Vineyard near Guildford, Surrey, the new Searcys Classic Cuvée, Brut, English Sparkling Wine, NV is a vibrant and elegant wine blended from the three traditional Champagne grape varieties, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
Grown on the sunny south-facing chalk slopes of the Hog’s Back at Puttenham, at the 40-acre vineyard established in 1989, the grapes are lovingly handpicked and the wine is sustainably produced using the traditional method, ageing in cellars for over four years.
Yellow-gold in colour, the pour encompasses fresh and fruity with notes of peach and zesty lime on the nose and aromas of green apples, freshly baked brioche and citrus on the palate. Dry, soft and carefully balanced flavour with a crisp finish, the wine is the ideal aperitif or celebratory tipple and pairs wonderfully with fish or seafood.
Synonymous with Champagne, with Searcys very first own Cuvée dating back to 1893, the new English Sparkling Brut joins the range of Searcys Selected Champagnes and marks the expansion of its own label bottles for the company’s 175th anniversary.
Bruno Pelletier, Drinks Ambassador at Searcys, said, “Being at the heart of events and celebrations since 1847, we are very excited to be adding our very first own-label English Sparkling Wine to the wine list for events across all our venues, Searcys restaurants and Champagne bars.
' Just in time for the arrival of our celebration signature Spring-Summer menus, the new Sparkling Wine pairs perfectly with new dishes including Portland crab with a citrus salad and brown crab dressing as well as our showstopping Pan-fried dover sole with capers, lemon butter and parsley.
'What’s more, we are continuing to raise awareness and interest in Britain’s local wines and vineyards, supporting local businesses and practicing being more sustainable.”
Mike Wagstaff, Owner and Director of Greyfriars Vineyard, added, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Searcys and to celebrate its anniversary with the launch of Searcys English Sparkling Wine.
'Our new collaboration not only marks the occasion but also celebrates the exceptional quality of wines produced in this unique area and, together, we’re proud to be putting Surrey on the map as a premium wine region.
'Nurtured on the chalky limestone hills with the same geology as that of the Champagne region, our vineyards represent the very pinnacle of quality in the increasingly successful English wine industry - aligning with Searcys’ values on un-compromising quality and excellence.”
Now available for £58 per bottle across all Searcys venues, restaurants and Champagne bars.
