Newcastle United FC’s St James’ Park to host first real ale festival

One of the UK’s most famous football grounds is tempting fans with pulled pork and pints – at its first ever real ale festival.

On 7 and 8 October, Newcastle United FC’s St James’ Park will play host to some of the North East’s best loved artisan breweries for two days of beer, music and food.

Along with 54 beers and ciders from breweries such as Wylam, Cullercoats, Blackhill and Firebrick, festival-goers will also be able to tuck into a menu of dishes designed especially for the occasion.

Sodexo Prestige's team of chefs will be serving up pulled pork baps, honey roast ham and mash, rustic potato wedges and burgers, to a background of live music provided by bands such as Champagne Charlies.

Samantha Doyle, sales and marketing manager for Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events at the stadium, said, “We’re very excited to be hosting our first ever real ale festival and bringing together three North East passions; food, football and a good pint.

'The region’s home to some very impressive breweries and, by teaming their beers and ciders with food from our highly skilled chefs in this iconic setting, we hope to give festival-goers a great weekend.”

The Real Ale Festival, which will also feature a Bombay Gin bar, will take place at the stadium’s Platinum Club from 6pm to 11pm on 7 October and from 12 noon to 10pm on 8 October.
