ROK Stars ABK Bavarian beer wins European Beer Star Award

Wolverhampton-based ROK has won the European Beer Star Silver Award in Nürnberg for ABK Bavarian beer, Edel Spezial Bier.

The European Beer Star Awards is one of the most important and prestigious beer competitions worldwide involving a 124 person expert jury blind-tasting more than 2,000 beers from 44 countries.

ROK Stars acquired the majority interest in the historic 700 year old AktienBrauerei Kaufbeuren, Bavaria in May 2013 and has since re-designed and re-packaged a range of beers for international export under the brand ‘ABK Beer – Since 1308’.

Jonathan Kendrick, Chairman of ROK Stars, said, “We are enormously proud that our beers continue to be recognised and rewarded for their outstanding quality and taste.

'Succeeding in competitions such as the European Beer Star Awards are key to the on-going global distribution of our beers which, for the first time since the brewery was founded in 1308, are now available in new markets such as China and the United States amongst others.”

With a growing drinks portfolio which, in addition to ABK Beer, includes Bogart’s Gin and Bogart’s Vodka, Graffiti Wine and ROK Natural Energy drink, ROK Drinks was co-founded by John Paul DeJoria, known as ‘America’s favourite entrepreneur,’ and Jonathan Kendrick with a mandate to ‘build the mega-brands of tomorrow, today’.
