3,000 Asda staff to lose jobs or have hours cut

Asda is currently in consultation with more than three thousand staff regarding redundancies and cutting hours, as part of plans to make changes to 18 underperforming stores.

The UK's third largest supermarket confirmed that it has no plans to shut these 18 sites but consultants from McKinsey are drawing up a staff reduction plan.

An Asda spokesperson told The Telegraph, “It is common practice for a supermarket to need to make changes to hours based on the changing shopping habits of customers.

'We understand that any conversations about change are unsettling but it is always our upmost priority to find alternative roles or working patterns for impacted colleagues.”
