CDG airport restaurant brand clinches two major awards

Oriel Grande Brasserie, Casual Dining Group’s (CDG) premium all-day restaurant concept, has scooped up two prestigious awards in the travel market at The Menu Innovation and Development Awards (MIDAS) and The Moodie Davitt Awards, demonstrating the strength of the brand in a global travel and concessions market.

The awards are testament to the successful development of the three Oriel Grande Brasserie sites, which currently operate in Heathrow Terminal 3, Heathrow Terminal 4 and Luton Airport. The offer is tailored specifically for the travel market, with an easily navigable menu boasting a range of timeless, classic French dishes all delivered within an all-important 15-minute timeframe, guaranteed.

Firstly, Oriel scooped the MIDAS Best Menu in a Travel Location award, as judged by a selection of mystery diners and judges with experience of multi-unit disciplined menu operations. The awards, in their 10th year, are regarded as the industry ‘Oscars’ for executive chefs and menu development managers multi-site and foodservice industries.

The second prize collected by the Oriel team was the acclaimed award for Best Airport Restaurant in Europe, presented at The Airport Food and Beverage Conference & Awards in Helsinki. Oriel emerged as the winner for its quality, service, sustainability and innovation. The award recognises that the brand is not only growing in performance but has also become acknowledged on a global level.

Mark Nelson, Managing Director of Concessions and Franchising at CDG, said, “We are absolutely delighted to have won both of these esteemed awards, which is testament to the hard work of our team, our suppliers and producers.

'We have a highly-skilled team who constantly scrutinise and review the offers across our entire business to ensure we are current and delivering outstanding customer experiences. We’re delighted that this dedication and attention to detail has been recognised by these two awards.

“Looking to the future, we hope to take momentum from these awards as we look to explore new opportunities to grow the brand in transport hubs worldwide.”

Oriel’s aesthetics are inspired by the 1930’s Art Deco style of extravagance and luxury, and its look and feel is reminiscent of the classic grand cafes in Paris. In addition to its premium food menu, it also serves a range of cocktails for guests, be they celebrating sun seekers and unwinding business travellers.
