New spirit from film director launches in Europe at Mayfair hotel bar

Singani 63, the highly-anticipated spirit from Oscar-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, has officially launched in the UK and it can be found at Manetta’s at Flemings Mayfair, the first bar in Europe to serve the spirit.

Known for its fragrant aromas and smooth taste, Singani 63 – the national spirit of Bolivia dating back 500 years – was discovered by Soderbergh whilst shooting the movie Che 10 years ago.

What first started as a personal quest to secure a supply of Singani solely for himself, later turned into the creation of his own brand, Singani 63, and an exciting adventure sharing this unknown spirit with the rest of the world outside of Bolivia.

The spirit is now poured in leading cocktail bars and restaurants across the US and championed by internationally renowned bartenders like Ivy Mix (Leyenda) and Alex Day (Death & Co).

To celebrate its UK arrival, Manetta’s Bar have created an exclusive cocktail, inspired and named after the Alexandria grape which the spirit is made from, grown at a minimum altitude of 5,250 feet in the Andes. Alexandria’s Journey (£18) is a refreshing and aromatic combination of Singani 63, lemon juice, basil and a berry syrup, garnished with olives.
