Kelloggs to open new warehouse in St Helens

Cereal and snack giant, Kellogg, is setting up shop in the Liverpool City-Region after agreeing a multimillion-pound warehousing deal which will create 70 jobs.

The company will lease a giant 525,000 sq. ft warehouse in Haydock, St Helens, to help in the delivery of its famous food brands, like Corn Flakes, Coco Pops and Pringles across Britain and for export to the European Union and Middle East.

The Haydock site will be Kellogg’s largest warehouse in the UK and will complement its existing British operations including factories in Manchester and Wrexham and a UK head office in Salford’s MediaCity.

It is anticipated the move will create 70 new jobs in the St Helens’ area, in addition to the 1,500 people already employed by Kellogg in the North West and North Wales.

Head of Kellogg in the UK, Chris Silcock, said, “We’ve been proud to call the North West of England home since 1938 and, with all our British operations stretching from Manchester into North Wales, this move shows our renewed commitment to the region.

“It’s great to be able to open a base in St Helens’ and expand into the Liverpool City-Region in support of our broader business’s growth ambition.”

The 91-acre site is located off the A580 near junction 23 of the M6, next to an existing Amazon warehouse and was developed by Bericote in conjunction with Hillwood. The agents on the deal were DTRE.

Kellogg has been in the UK since 1922 and has called the North West home since 1938 when it opened its first British factory in Manchester. As well as selling iconic foods like Crunchy Nut and Special K, the company is committed to making a difference to communities and is the largest corporate supporter of school breakfast clubs in Britain.

Kellogg will move into its new Haydock site from 1 April 2020.
