This February, Petersham Nurseries' eatery in Richmond will launc- dine-at-home luxury seasonal dinner boxes, to be delivered to doorsteps up and down the country.
For those looking to feast at home, or send as a gift to a loved one, the boxes, serving two people, make the most of the season’s exceptional produce and come with a recipe booklet and clear instructions on how to assemble and finish the dishes at home.
In keeping with the carefully considered produce and provenance-led food philosophy of Petersham Nurseries, the set menus will change regularly with the seasons.
The four-course February box begins with a starter of fresh tagliatelle with tema artichoke, anchovy, chilli and garlic pangrattato before the main event, in which diners have the choice of Haye farm Porchetta, rolled with winter garden herbs or delica pumpkin, chard and goat’s cheese pithivier.
Both are accompanied by sides of braised endive and radicchio with sultanas, lilliput capers, Taggiasca olives and pine nuts and cavolo nero, ready to be dressed with Zisola olive oil and Amalfi lemon dressing.
To end, there is an indulgent steamed date pudding with pouring cream and Winslade cheese, served with pane carasau and honey from Petershams’ on-site hives in Richmond.
To replicate the Petersham Nurseries Café experience in your own home, diners can choose to add a terracotta pot, embossed with the elephant logo, planted and mossed with a hyacinth bulb and to decorate the table, all boxes come complete with two simple rustic candles, wrapped in their signature Indian ribbon.
Petersham Cellar have also created a wine list to complement the meal which can be purchased as an extra and for those who fancy a cocktail or two, Petersham Nurseries have teamed up with Tayer + Elementary, so diners can choose from their selection of pre-bottled cocktails, ready to serve over ice.
For those who want to create a truly memorable dining occasion with a Petersham inspired tablescape, the online shop is stocked with beautiful pieces for the home such as are Bertozzi tablecloths and napkins; Murano glassware; vases; jugs candlesticks and more, and the team are on hand to help with styling tips.
For Valentine’s Day, the Petersham Nurseries dine at home box, delivered to doorsteps on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 February, will come complete with a bottle of prosecco together with crystallised rose petals and syrup to recreate Petershams’ Rose Bellini, and the option to include a potted David Austin English shrub rose, which will flower year after year.
The menu for the weekend features gnocchi alla romana with delica pumpkin, crispy sage, pumpkin seed and shaved parmesan to start, followed by the choice of tarte tatin with calcot onion, fennel, chicory, gorgonzola and thyme or roasted duck with blood orange, Petersham honey and pink peppercorn sauce.
Accompanying sides include potato and porcini gratinati and heritage carrots with star anise, cloves and chervil. To finish, there is a forced rhubarb and orange steamed pudding with vanilla custard and Winslade cheese, served with pane carasau and Petersham honey and chocolate truffles.
