BRC launches programme for non-exec directors in retail

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has launched the UK’s first training programme specifically aimed at non-executive directors in retail.

The programme, made up of 13 one-hour modules, covers everything from identifying and mitigating reputational risk to benchmarking business performance against sector and regional comparators. It is delivered through the BRC’s new learning platform and will include a mix of live sessions, including a “meet the experts” day.

The courses gives participants access to the very BRC experts who have helped to create these modules. It also provides for key networking opportunities with experts in the field.

Helen Dickinson, BRC's Chief Executive, said, “Non-executive directors play an essential role in bringing new perspectives into the boardroom. However, while all come with a wealth of experience in business, not all are specifically acquainted with the retail industry.

'This training can provide insights into many of the key topics that every new non-executive needs to know. Our programme is delivered by our experts, who live and breathe these issues every day.”
