Sainsbury’s brings new store to local community in South Croydon

Sainsbury’s is delivering on its plans to provide a boost to the local economy in South Croydon whilst enhancing retail choice and supporting new jobs with the opening of its latest convenience store on Brighton Road.

The 2,640 sq. ft store has 22 staff and was transformed from a vacant unit into a fully fitted-out Sainsbury’s Local in just five weeks. It is open from 7am – 11pm seven days a week.

Situated opposite the grounds of Whitgift House and Whitgift School, the store will offer local residents and visitors to the area a high-quality selection of fresh food, fruit and vegetables as well as branded and own-brand groceries, frozen food and household products.

Fresh bread and pastries will be baked every day in the store bakery and customers can also choose to pick up a coffee from a self-service Costa coffee machine.

There are six parking spaces to the side of the store for the added convenience of customers who may be passing through the area by car.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said, “We have a proud history of serving the community in South Croydon and I’m delighted we’re now able to offer even more customers in the area the chance to enjoy Sainsbury’s renowned quality products and service at their convenience.”

John Corps, Croydon Brighton Road Local Store Manager, said, “We’re very pleased with our new store and everything it has to offer and we’re sure our new customers will be too. Born and raised in Croydon myself, I’m really looking forward to making a difference in my local community as we help customers prepare for Christmas and other festivities at this busy time of year.”
