Whitbread, the owner of the Premier Inn and hub by Premier Inn hotel chains, has kicked off its 2022/23 financial year in style with the opening of the largest Premier Inn hotel in Central London at Paddington.
The 393-bedroom Premier Inn at North Wharf Gardens in the heart of Paddington Basin opens today [7th March] and features Premier Inn’s latest standard rooms, enhanced Premier Plus rooms and Bar + Block Steakhouse restaurant. Many of the new bedrooms have stunning skyline views of the capital.
Premier Inn London Paddington is the first of three significant new hotel openings in the Paddington and Marylebone catchment for Whitbread as it continues to grow its brands in popular and connected locations where it sees long-term demand for its affordable hotel rooms.
Alex Flach, UK Development Director at Whitbread, said, “We opened more than 30 new Premier Inn and hub by Premier Inn hotels across the UK and Ireland during our 2021/22 financial year.
'We are continuing this impressive rate of growth this financial year with exciting new openings in city centre locations like Paddington in central London, but also in popular regional cities and leisure-led locations across the country.
“We see real opportunity for our brands over the next few years as the economy continues to recover from the pandemic and as the trend for domestic travel continues. We have refreshed our development targets in London and across the country, have an excellent product and are predicting a very busy few years of expansion ahead.”
The opening of the Paddington Basin Premier Inn follows recent new site openings for Premier Inn across London.
In its 2021/22 financial year, Whitbread opened six new Premier Inn and hub by Premier Inn hotels across the capital in established locations such as Hammersmith, Canning Town, Uxbridge and Tooting as well as in Soho (Berwick St) and Shoreditch in prime central London.
Outside of the capital new Premier Inn hotels were opened in prime city centre locations in Oxford, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Blackpool, Milton Keynes and St Peter Port in Guernsey.
Whitbread sees the potential for up to 110,000 Premier Inn and hub by Premier Inn bedrooms across the UK and Ireland as it continues to expand into a structurally changing hospitality market.
