Fentimans wins top accolade for ginger beer

The UK’s only botanical brewers, Fentimans has scooped The People’s Choice Quality Food Award for ‘Best Drink’ for its Hollows & Fentimans All Natural Alcoholic Ginger Beer.

The awards are exclusively open to winners of The Quality Food Awards from the year before and are unique as the judging is done by a 50+ panel of consumer testers who score all entries to strict criteria looking at packaging and pricing as well as flavour, texture and mouth feel.

Andrew Jackson, Marketing Director (pictured) commented, “Our Hollows & Fentimans is a luxurious Ginger Beer that packs a fiery punch with the depth of flavour that can only be achieved from botanical brewing.

“We’re delighted the panel recognised the superior taste of the product that kick started the Fentimans story back in 1905. Since then we have never wavered from our founder Thomas Fentimans commitment to creating botanically brewed drinks using the finest natural ingredients.”

The Quality Food and Drink Awards recognise some of the finest food and drink products on sale in UK grocery outlets and cast a spotlight on those that offer quality ingredients, great tastes, aromas and beautiful packaging.

Winners qualify and are then given the opportunity to enter The People’s Choice Awards showcasing their products to a savvy panel of testers who judge to rigorous guidelines set by industry leaders in food and drink research, Campden BRI. Hollows & Fentimans All Natural Alcoholic Ginger Beer came ahead of St Austell Brewery’s Korev Cornish Lager and Proper Job IPA.

Publishing director Helen Lyons said, “This award represents what the most important people in our industry - the consumers - think of a product. Fentimans Botanically Brewed Beverages are a wonderful example of an uncompromising brand intent on producing natural products with incredible flavour. And as a huge part of the judging is taste based, they are obviously getting it right. We’re very impressed!”
