BrewDog launches fifth bar in Sweden

Independent craft brewer, BrewDog is expanding its presence in Sweden with the opening of its fifth bar in the country, located in the eastern city of Norrköping.

Sweden is BrewDog’s longest-standing and largest export market in Europe. It is already home to four BrewDog bars, the most in any country outside the UK. BrewDog first opened in Kungsholmen, Stockholm in 2013 and has since added bars in Göteborg, Malmö and a second site in Stockholm, in Södermalm.

BrewDog Norrköping will be the brewer’s ninth bar opening of 2018. At its Annual General Meeting in April, BrewDog revealed several announcements including plans for 17 new bars around the world.

Located at Nya Torget 7, 602 26, BrewDog Norrköping has capacity for 100 indoors and 80 in its spacious, terraced outdoor seating area. The 15-metre bar will pour 20 beers on tap. Beer offerings will include options from local breweries in addition to a wide range of the best craft beer from around the world.

The food selection will be a classic BrewDog menu of burgers and wings.

Last November, BrewDog launched a special limited-edition beer as a gesture of thanks to its Swedish fans and Equity Punk investors. The beer, Hello My Name is Agnetha was a double IPA infused with local lingonberries. ...Agnetha follows Hello My Name is Ingrid, BrewDog’s first special-edition Swedish beer, which launched in 2011. The cloudberry infused Double IPA sold out in a few hours and in 2016, BrewDog fans voted for Ingrid to be brewed again.

James Watt, BrewDog cofounder, said, “The thirst for great craft beer in Sweden has not abated since we opened our first bar here in 2013. Norrköping has been on our radar for a while now - we’ve been excited by the city’s vibrancy and pace of growth. We’re proud to add to an already buzzing beer scene, and we look forward to introducing BrewDog to even more of Sweden’s most ardent craft beer fans.”
