£850k renovated West Sussex inn comes to market

The Blacksmiths, a contemporary country inn situated just outside the West Sussex village of Donnington, has been brought to the market through Christie & Co, with an asking price of £850k.

Recently renovated, The Blacksmiths comprises an open plan bar and restaurant for 65 covers, a central wooden bar and commercial kitchen. It also features three ensuite guest bedrooms.

The traditional pub offers a gourmet twist, with menus that make the most of locally sourced and seasonal produce, with many ingredients being grown on site.

There is an extensive rear garden and patio area, which provides seating for an additional 60 covers, plus a spacious car park for up to 25 vehicles and designated parking for bikes.

Situated on the outskirts of the village, the pub attracts a strong mix of local guests and visitors from further afield, hosting a number of themed evenings and live music events.

Having owned and operated the business for the past six years, William and Mariella Fleming commented, “We bought the pub with the vision of making it a drinking pub for locals but also a place to have good quality honest food in a cosy environment.”

Richard Wood, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Winchester office, who is handling the sale, said, “The Blacksmiths provides a fabulous opportunity to acquire a profitable and award winning country inn that is run under management. Having been under the same ownership for the past six years, the pub has undergone extensive refurbishment making it a popular destination for customers in the area.”
