Searcys launches Saatchi Gallery pop-up cafe

British restaurateur and events caterer, Searcys has today announced a partnership at Saatchi Gallery, with the launch of a new pop-up cafe.

Providing Searcys’ sustainably-sourced coffees and teas, sandwiches, cakes and bakes, the Saatchi Gallery Cafe´ is open for the duration of the Tutankhamun: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh exhibition, which is produced by IMG and the Ministry of Antiquities.

Located on the lower ground floor, Saatchi Gallery Cafe has opened offering a seasonal menu which celebrates seasonal and sustainable produce.

Menu highlights include classic English favourites, such as Roast ham and mature cheddar on sourdough; and a Salmon with dill cream sandwich, along with more Middle Eastern flavours with dishes such as a Feta, spinach and za’atar sourdough pocket. Young customers are also catered for with a children’s meal bag, including a ham or cheese roll, healthy snacks and juice.

With a focus on quality and sustainable coffee, the cafee serves Searcys organic coffee blends, sourced from cooperatives of small holders in Peru and Columbia, and roasted by Bristol-based, Extract Coffee Roasters.

In residence at Saatchi Gallery until Sunday 3 May 2020, the new cafee launch coincides with the exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb.

London is the third of ten cities to host Tutankhamun: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh, following on from record-breaking stops in Los Angeles and Paris. As the final chance to see the glittering world heritage artefacts, the exhibition was among the most successful in the history of the California Science Centre, in LA, while in Paris, it became France's most attended exhibition of all time with over 1.4 million visitors.

Matt Thomas, Managing Director of Searcys, commented, “We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with the Saatchi Gallery during this important exhibition for London.

'At Searcys, we pride ourselves on providing great hospitality to customers at some of the UK’s most magnificent venues, and this is no exception. We are looking forward to welcoming guests and exhibition visitors to the new Saatchi Gallery Cafe´ pop-up.'

Philippa Adams, Director at the Saatchi Gallery, remarked, “We are proud to announce our partnership with Searcys and welcome them to the Gallery during Tutankhamun: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh, a once-in-a- lifetime opportunity to see the artefacts for the first time and experience the wonders of the boy king. Saatchi Gallery aims to provide quality experiences to our visitors, and we look forward to opening the Saatchi Gallery Cafe´ with a menu by Searcys.”
