Newcastle-based brewery, Anarchy Brew Co has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence at the 2019 Brussels Beer Challenge for its Double IPA, Buried in Hops.
The Brussels Beer Challenge took place in Mons, Belgium, with this 8th edition featuring 1,650 beers, judged by a panel of beer experts to evaluate competing beers in an objective, impartial and professional manner. During the tasting, beer entries were divided into 60 consistent flights based on their origin, typicity and style.
Simon Miles, Co-owner of Anarchy Brew Co, said, 'This is the first time we've ever entered the Brussels Beer Challenge, so to come away with a Certificate of Excellence has been really positive for our whole team at the brewery.
'Sabro has proved to be such a popular hop this year, and we're really pleased with the way Buried in Hops has been received by our customers!'
Buried in Hops is a double IPA with a dense tropical fruit flavour, courtesy of a large hop addition in the whirlpool, with a clean, bitter finish. Slight herbal, piney notes on the nose due to the Simcoe dry hop, which complements the citrus fruit and coconut aroma from a healthy dose of Sabro, and a second dry hop.
Anarchy Brew Co. started life back in 2012 in Morpeth, Northumberland, and has built up a reputation for producing quality beers packed with well-balanced flavours. Following on from the success of core beers such as Blonde Star and Citra Star, the brewery has expanded over the past seven years to creating more iconic beers, in keg, cask, and their new 440ml cans.
