Hampton by Hilton hotel planned near Birmingham NEC

HPREF Mets Birmingham Ltd has submitted plans for a 203-room Hampton by Hilton hotel in the car park of the Hilton Metropole, near the NEC in Birmingham.

If Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council gives the green light for the plans, over 30 hotel jobs will be created, as well as 25 full-time and ten part-time roles for a 452-space car park, which will sit opposite the hotel.

HPREF Mets Birmingham's statement to the council read: 'The proposed hotel and MSCP would sit well within the existing NEC complex, of which is characterised by large scale buildings.

The development will help bolster the provision of good quality tourist accommodation at the NEC and in the wider area.

Overall, the proposed development is considered to be acceptable in planning terms, being compliant with the Local Plan and the NPPF and there are no material considerations that would indicate otherwise.'

The Hilton group owns, manages or franchises a hotel portfolio 14 hotel brands, and operates over 150 hotels in the UK.
