New CEO & interim chairman for Fenwick

Family-owned department store group, Fenwick has welcomed John Edgar as the new CEO. A former CFO at Harrods and Selfridges, Edgar is replacing Robbie Feather at the nine-strong site firm.

The 138-year-old company has bid farewell to Richard Pennycook as chairman, who is best known for rescuing the Co-operative Group and joined the company in 2017.

Steve Barber, a non-executive director, has become the interim chairman. Fenwick said he is an experienced non-executive director and chartered accountant (ICAEW).

A Fenwick family spokesperson said, “We would like to thank Richard for his guidance during his time as chairman, and to thank Robbie for all his leadership and dedication in driving the most ambitious transformation in Fenwick’s history. We much appreciate Andy’s contribution to the board also.

“This is an unprecedented time for the retail sector, and we are pleased to welcome John Edgar as Fenwick’s new chief executive. We look forward to working closely with John and the whole team to help guide Fenwick through this incredibly challenging time.”

Fenwick, which has closed stores in Windsor and Leicester, still has nine sites across the country, from London's Bond Street to York, although all are temporarily closed at this time.

The group has recently launched its own brand ranges within its popular Food Hall, created new drinking and dining areas, and an online shopping venture for the first time. Online shopping is currently suspended due to the pandemic.
