North Lanarkshire c-store acquired by indie operator

A Spar convenience store in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, has been sold through Christie & Co off an asking price of £25k for the leasehold.

The property includes a double-fronted retail unit with ancillary space and is in a predominately residential area. Much of its trade comes from the surrounding areas including the local Academy.

Alongside some other properties, the store was marketed by Christie & Co on behalf of Scotland's largest independent retailing and distribution company, CJ Lang, and has now been purchased by Sathish Kumar Thangavel.

Steve Rodell, Managing Director of Retail at Christie & Co, commented, “We are delighted to have completed on the sale of this Spar convenience store, especially given current economic uncertainty.

'The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of local shops to their nearby communities, and we wish Mr Thangavel the best of luck in his new venture.”
