£1.9m Powys hotel & chalet park comes to market

A historic renowned hotel and chalet park in Felingerrig, Powys, in the heart of the Dyfi Valley, has been brought to market via Savills, with a price tag of £1.9m.

Having previously won the National Impressionist Award, the holiday chalet park is a development of 22 chalets situated to the south west of Plas Dolguog Hotel, and consist of Cosalt timber chalets and traditional log cabins. The chalets are all privately owned and comprise 12 held on a leasehold basis and ten held on a freehold basis.

The Grade II-listed hotel is set in generous landscaped grounds and award winning gardens and benefits from stunning views of Snowdonia National Park. The hotel provides accommodation with seven ensuite bedrooms, a separate annexe with a further six ensuite bedrooms, and a separate three bedroom dwelling.

There is also a substantial detached dwelling set over three floors with five bedrooms that is used as owner’s/staff residence. Facilities at the hotel include three reception rooms and a restaurant. There is potential to convert the attic which has four rooms into additional accommodation subject to planning permission.

The property is situated close to the town of Machynlleth in the heart of Mid Wales and accessed via the A489 Newtown Road. It is well placed both geographically and culturally for visits to castles, nature and sandy beaches with its interesting shops and watering holes, historic buildings and wide main street dominated by the clock tower and is only about 1.6 miles away. The town’s colourful, bustling street market has been held in the same street since 1291.

The stunning coastal village of Aberdyfi overlooking Cardigan Bay is only about 12 miles to the south-west and is a superb sailing centre at the head of a broad estuarial plain.

Katherine Wigham, associate in the leisure & trade team at Savills Chester, says: “This is an exciting opportunity to acquire a historic hotel with lots of potential with a small chalet park in a beautiful setting close to a number of tourist destinations including the famous Snowdonia National Park.”
