Kent safari hotel celebrates 99% occupancy post national lockdown

Kent's largest wild animal park, Port Lympne has managed to achieve 99% occupancy post-lockdown at its hotel, thanks to its seamless guest experience and optimised booking channels.

Having reopened in the wake of lockdown, the luxury venue, which provides a diverse array of guest experiences including 14 different accommodation types made up of a boutique hotel, lodges, treehouses, panoramic bubbles and more, has benefitted from a comprehensive direct booking strategy that’s allowed it to maximise revenue amidst heightened demand.

At one point, once the Government had given the green light to reopen, the reserve was seeing a booking every 11 seconds; a level of popularity which saw it achieve more than 99% occupancy throughout July and August.

Furthermore, Port Lympne’s Average Daily Rate increased by 30% in September and 35% in October; a period which helped it to make up the shortfall following its 3-month closure.

Samantha Bailey, Sales, Marketing and Fundraising Commercial Director, said, “Since reopening, we’ve really hit the ground running, and a key contributor to this has been our streamlined, optimised booking strategy, which has enabled us to maximise the opportunities presented by post-lockdown demand.”

Port Lympne uses Profitroom, one of Europe’s leading SaaS providers to the hospitality industry, for its direct booking expertise.

Samantha Williams, UK Market Owner at Profitroom, said, “It’s fantastic to see Port Lympne’s success. The hospitality industry has had a very tough time of it in recent months, but Port Lympne has set an example as to how a robust direct booking strategy can benefit hoteliers and other accommodation providers.

'We’ve seen demand sky rocket for coastal areas post-lockdown, but it’s only by having the right measures in place that hotels and resorts have been able to capitalise on this – with Port Lympne very much setting the standard.”
