£1.9m Grimsby hotel comes to market

Grimsby’s Humber Royal Hotel has been brought to market with for offers sought in the region of £1.9m.

The purpose-built 58-bed hotel, which is situated adjacent to Grimsby Golf Club, is being sold by Colliers International.

Senior surveyor Robert Smithson said the hotel was expected to attract interest from property developers because of its well located 2.7 acre site, as well from potential buyers with experience in the hotel trade

“The Humber Royal Hotel is prominently located around two miles west of Grimsby town centre, adjacent to Grimsby Golf Club and with the rear of the hotel overlooking the golf course,” he said.

“It is an established and successful freehold hotel. It will be of interest to hoteliers as it is a popular leisure event venue for occasions such as weddings because of its impressive function suites and bar facilities. It is also able to attract corporate trade from the large number of businesses and industries within Grimsby and the surrounding area.

“The hotel’s location on a substantial site in a predominantly residential area means it is also likely to appeal to residential developers, as well as to developers of facilities such as care homes, because of the opportunities it offers, subject to planning consent.”

The Humber Royal Hotel has five rooms available for conferences and meetings, all fitted with air conditioning and benefitting from natural daylight. The Links and Fairway suites are located on the first floor, and on the ground floor are Humber Suite and the Royal Terrace which combine to form the Royal Suite.

Video conferencing, free Wi-Fi and flat screen TVs are available at the Royal Humber Hotel, and the Humber Suite has a large screen and ceiling mounted projector with built in PA system.

The public areas of the hotel include an attractive open plan Lounge Bar and Restaurant with seating for around 60 people. The area benefits from a bar and buffet breakfast service table, and there are patio doors leading to the outside seating area overlooking the golf course.

Smithson added, “Significantly there are local developments which will drive trade into the Grimsby area, including the Prax Group purchasing the Lindsey Oil Refinery and ABLE UK receiving planning consent to substantially increase the capacity of Immingham Port which is located close by. This will bring a great deal of contractor trade while construction takes place and corporate trade thereafter.

“Grimsby is also home to the largest fish market in the UK and is the centre for the UK fish processing industry. The local port benefits from its deep port location on the Humber estuary and is therefore the UK’s largest port by tonnage and is on one of Europe’s busiest trading routes.”
