£950k Victorian hotel in Lake District seeks new ownership

An hotel and restaurant in the centre of the picturesque Cumbrian village of Stainton has been brought to the market by Colliers for £950k

Brantwood Country House Hotel is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. It is ideally located in 0.58 acres of landscaped grounds, on the edge of the Lake District National Park UNESCO World Heritage Site yet just three miles from Ullswater and within convenient reach of the M6 motorway.

Current owners Richard and Niki Langley bought the 18th century former country residence in 2007 and have refurbished it throughout to a very high standard. It now boasts seven uniquely decorated bedrooms, a cosy bar with 45 covers, a breakfast/meeting room with 30 covers and a restaurant with 70 covers.

Having developed a successful business, the couple are now looking to sell it as a going concern to a new owner who can embrace the many potential opportunities and continue to take the business forward.

Richard Langley said, “We’ve truly enjoyed running this unique business for the last 15 years and building up a strong connection and friendship with our local customers and regular visitors.

'We also have a fantastic team of long-term dedicated employees who deliver the best customer service every day which makes the Brantwood so popular and successful. Working with such a great team in such an idyllic location as the Lakes has been a real pleasure.”

Robert Smithson, senior surveyor in Colliers’ specialist hotels agency team said: “This is a rare opportunity to purchase a well-established and well-located business in an idyllic location. Both the letting bedrooms and the restaurant have a very strong regular customer base, and also offer further potential for growth.

“The hotel’s close proximity to the Lakes means it will be a popular destination for those looking to spend time in the great outdoors, all year round. The building and the grounds have been well maintained and the business already has a strong reservations book for the upcoming summer season.”

Located on the main thoroughfare in the village of Stainton, the bars and restaurant of the Brantwood Country House Hotel are often frequented by local patrons of Stainton and nearby Penrith and Carlisle. There is also a substantial on-site rear car park and external grassed seating area which provides extra space for visitors to enjoy.
