Santa Maria to open new vegan pizzeria this Friday

The team behind Santa Maria is to open a new vegan pizzeria this week on its original site in London's Ealing, as Santa Maria moves to a new Ealing spot.

Named Vergine Maria, the company said of its new venture, 'We have always wanted to start a vegan project, we strongly believe that a plant-based diet is a sustainable and viable alternative that in the near future will be even more popular.

'That is why we have created Vergine Maria. We took a Santa Maria pizza and made it Virgin, makes sense, no?'

Vergine Maria's menu will be fully vegan with pizzas and drinks - that won't be found at Sanata Maria sites, and there are also plans for other other dishes, such as Mac n Cheese.

Pizza choices are being kept pretty secret but it will include: Margherita a filetto (base of mozzarella with cherry tomatoes with friarielli, olives and chilli (pictured), and yet-to-named pizza with pumpkin, courgettes, mozzarella & Nduja, and friarielli (wild broccoli/bitter greens) with yellow & red piennolo tomatoes, olives, chillies.

Santa Maria was founded in 2010 by Pasquale Chionchio and Angelo Ambrosio, two best friends from childhood, that moved to London in 2000.
