Birmingham brewery to launch first new bar in over 30 years

Historic Birmingham brewing firm, Davenport is to launch its first new bar in more than 30 years, on the site of a former West Midlands Police station.

The company, which was founded in Birmingham in 1829, is hoping to open the new craft beer and cocktail cafe in the Jewellery Quarter, which will face onto the newly-completed Golden Square public space.

The new 1,200 sq ft bar will be called Dares Cafe, named after Davenports' craft beer brand which was established in the 1920s, will be open by the spring.

To compliment the cocktails and craft beers on offer, the new venue will serve up 'grill style street food'.
