US pizza brand MOD announces second UK site

Hot on the heels of the opening of their first UK site in Leeds, industry-leading US brand MOD Pizza announced today their second UK site in the historic city of Brighton.

Set to open in August 2016 the new location is situated in the beautiful Marina and will include 86 covers; 73 inside and 13 outside, all overlooking the Brighton seafront. MOD has chosen Brighton as its second location due to its vibrant culinary culture and eclectic community.

The MOD brand, recently recognised by Technomic 1 as America’s fastest growing restaurant chain, is the brain-child of Scott and Ally Svenson and is brought to the UK in a joint-venture with Sir Charles Dunstone and Roger Taylor. The joint-venture, which brings together a team of highly experienced and deeply devoted customer-champions, are planning five UK sites by the end of 2016 with an impressive pipeline for 2017.

Simple and efficient, the MOD concept enables customers to build their own individual, artisan-style pizza or salad, using MOD’s fresh-pressed dough, signature sauces and a choice of 34 toppings. Pizzas are cooked ‘superfast’ in MOD’s gas fired ovens in 4 minutes, and salads are hand-tossed in front of the customer. Regardless of pizza toppings, or salad ingredients, the price always remain the same, £7.47.

Sir Charles Dunstone says of the second MOD site, ‘Brighton is one of the most community driven cities in the UK and we think that matches perfectly with MOD’s care and community ethos. We’re not just talking about pizza coming to Brighton, we’re talking about a fresh way of thinking.’

In line with the philosophy of the founding partners, the business’ people-led culture considers their employees – the MOD Squad – their biggest asset, a rare approach in the modern hospitality industry. The MOD Squaders are encouraged to be active in the community, with each restaurant forming strong bonds to local charity partners and community outreach programmes.

‘The spirit and energy of Brighton is a perfect match for MOD’s people-centric culture that celebrates individuality and self-expression. MOD prides itself on being a force for good in the lives of our team and the communities in which we operate, and we look forward to spreading some MODness in Brighton starting this summer’ commented Scott Svenson MOD.
