ISS signs £102m continuation deal with Halifax hospital

ISS has signed a ground-breaking 12-year extension deal for its Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract at the Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax.

The company has signed an agreement, worth in excess of £102m, with the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and their PFI partners, Calderdale Albany SPC, that will see ISS continue to provide a wide range of soft FM services including Healthcare cleaning; Patient catering; Retail catering; Logistics; Portering; Security; Car parking; Switchboard and Help Desk services; Linen distribution and Sewing Room services. ISS employs over 575 people at the hospital.

Divisional Director, Donna Brown, ISS Healthcare, who led the negotiations said, “Although the new hospital opened its doors in 2001, ISS have been working with the Trust since the 1990s so this is a real vote of confidence in the partnership we have all worked so hard to achieve.”

Managing Director, ISS Healthcare, Chris Ash said, “This agreement will see ISS take the PFI from conception right through to the contract term, which is a testament to everyone involved. We have always worked hard to maintain the highest possible standards whilst looking to lead the way in innovation around the patient experience.

Director of Finance at the CHFT, Gary Boothby said, “ISS has been a partner with the Trust for over twenty years and along with delivering a high standard of service and value for money, have continued to support the organisation in achieving improved standards and increased efficiency. This extended agreement would not have happened had ISS not been seen as a strong, long term partner for the Trust.”

General Manager for Albany SPC, Eleanor Berridge said, “We are delighted to be working with ISS for the long-term continuing the collaborative and partnership approach to service delivery which is well embedded into the current project.”
