Tesco launches first UK zero alcohol stout to meet demand

Britain's growing number of low and no alcohol beer and cider drinkers will have far more choice from next week.

Among 11 beers and ciders just launched by Tesco, there is the UK's first ever no alcohol stout, as well as zero alcohol versions of the country's fastest growing beer, Estrella Damm.

Also being launched by the supermarket will be Raspberry Blitz, the UK's first ever zero alcohol sour beer, brewed by craft beer giants BrewDog.

In the last year, Tesco has seen demand for low and no alcohol beers grow by more than 30%.

Tesco beer buyer Dom Hill said, 'Low and no alcohol beer is soaring in popularity and that is down to a major improvement in the taste, quality and varieties that are now available.

'However as the market has grown, low and no alcohol drinkers have become more discerning so we are constantly looking at how we can improve the product range.

'We've been working with top British and international brewers and will now have low and no varieties of not only lager but ale, stout, craft beer as well as Premium quality cider.'

Last year Tesco sold more than 24 million bottles of no and low alcohol beer and this year it expects sales to grow even further by 30 per cent.

Added Dom Hill, 'In recent years there have been great improvements in quality with many breweries using far better ingredients in order to create brews that are as good as their alcoholic cousins.'
