Punch Taverns has invested nearly £500k in a pub of historic local significance in Killingworth near Newcastle, returning to its original name of The Clousden Hill.
The refurbished pub reopened in November with new publicans at the helm, Elaine and Steve Spring who also run another Punch pub, the Bridge Inn nearby in Cramlington. Fifteen new jobs have been created following the investment.

Elaine and Steve are excellent Publicans and its fantastic that they have chosen to take the Clousden Hill as their second pub with us”.
Landlady, Elaine Spring (pictured with partner Steve Spring, and Newcastle Councillor Nigel Todd) confirmed, ‘’We’ve been looking for a second pub for a while and when Punch showed us their vision for the Clousden it was just too good to miss. We know the area well and we are really excited to get going and bring this pub back to the heart of the community.’’
The major refurbishment also completely overhauled both the interior and exterior of the pub and includes a new outside beer garden with heated under cover seating.
