Wetherspoons £7m museum & hotel gets green light

In its 40th year, JD Wetherspoon has received the go-ahead for a £7m museum showcasing the pub giant's history, and a 70-bed hotel in Wolverhampton.

City of Wolverhampton council voted to approve the proposal, which will see the expansion of the firm's The Moon Under Water pub.

The company is set expand the upstairs floors of the site on Lichfield Street, as part of the scheme to renovate the building, which has been empty for more than 30 years.

Plans to develop a museum to mark the pub chain and its history have been in the works for some time, but now the new venture will launch this year creating 50 jobs.
