Crate hits crowd fund goal of £500k

Crate, the craft brewery and pizzeria, has reached its crowd fund goal of £500k.

The money raised will be funding a major refurbishment of brand's home, The White Building, an ex-print factory in the heart of Hackney Wick.

The new funds will create a new experimental brewery, an affordable work space, and an extended ground floor bar and a new event space.

Crate will also be partnering with award-winning chef Douglas McMaster to bring his celebrated zero-waste Brighton restaurant, Silo, to London.

Co-founder Neil Hinchley commented, “We’re so thrilled to have reached our initial target and looking forward to seeing how much more we can raise in the next nine days. This would help us accelerate our growth plans by using the money to secure a canning line for the brewery which would be a fantastic result.”

Crate was launched in 2012 by Hinchley and siblings Tom and Jess Seaton. Based in The White Building, an ex-print factory in the heart of Hackney Wick, Crate began its life as a small microbrewery, bar and pizza restaurant.
