Casual dining group, Yo! Sushi is to launch its first site without its famous ‘kaiten’ conveyor belt of food this summer to broaden its appeal and extend the menu, according to The Times.
The Westfield White City shopping centre in east London will be the brand's initial restaurant to open minus the conveyor belt and its Manchester Piccadilly station outlet will have the conveyor belt removed.
The brand currently serves up mainly sushi plates and some street food dishes, but stripping out the belt in some locations will enable it to highlight that it's more than a mainly sushi concept. Teriyaki shiitake mushroom burger in a steamed bao bun is pictured.
Yo! Sushi's Chief executive, Richard Hodgson, said that the change was “probably the biggest thing that’s happened to Yo! since it was founded.”
The company was formed in 1997 and now owns, operates, and franchises over 100 sushi restaurants, mainly in the UK but also in the US, Europe, the Middle East and Australia.
