Uber Eats cuts out delivery drivers with new Dine-in app feature

US online food delivery group, Uber Eats has added a 'Dine-in' feature option to its app that allows users to order food ahead of going to the chosen restaurant to enjoy the order.

Eliminating the need for delivery drivers, diners order food on the app and arrange transportation to the restaurant themselves.

Diners are not charged for this new service, instead the restaurants pay a fee that varies by market. However, customers can tip eatery staff through the app.

The feature also allows more restaurants to join the platform, and it gives users the chance to experience food from eateries that don't offer a take away option.

It was just revealed that Uber Eats launched the Dine-in feature very quietly back in November, and is currently trialling it in Dallas, Austin, Tucson and San Diego,
