Management team announced for £10m September-opening hotel

A new Hamilton hotel has announced its management team as it nears completion ahead of opening this summer.

Alex Cameron (pictured) will head up the team as General Manager at the new Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park, located within the grounds of Hamilton Park Racecourse.

Cameron is a Hamilton local with almost 20 years’ experience in the hospitality sector and joins from Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh City Centre, where he spent over 15 years, six of those as General Manager.

He will be joined by Senior Guest Service Manager Daniel Bell, who has 18 years’ hospitality experience and joins from Holiday Inn Theatreland, and Georgia McKay as Sales Manager, who previously was Sales Manager for Sodexo at Hamilton Park Racecourse.

The team will be further bolstered by Sharon Corrigan as Reservations Manager and Gordon Hubbert as Maintenance Manager.

The £10m hotel is set to provide a great boost to the local economy, with 25 additional members of staff now also in place, 95% of whom live in the local area.

Cameron said, “We’ve got a fantastic team in place who are already hard at work getting ready to welcome our first guests.

“Joining a hotel right from the beginning and building it up from scratch is the dream. Of course, there’s a lot of preparation work involved, but the prospect of launching this exciting new venue within the fantastic surroundings of Hamilton Park Racecourse is truly thrilling. We can’t wait to open our doors later this summer.

“Being a local myself, I’m extremely proud to be working with the Hampton by Hilton brand in Hamilton. It’s a brilliant opportunity to create something really special for the local area.”

The 118-room hotel will feature a restaurant, a bar and a small fitness centre for residents, as well as panoramic views of Hamilton Park Racecourse and 24-hour facilities for visitors to the racecourse for weddings, events, and conferences.

Vivien Currie, Chief Executive at Hamilton Park Racecourse, said, “The appointment of the management team marks another exciting step towards the hotel opening this summer. It’s going to be an incredible venue in a truly unique setting and will complete the range of services on offer here at the racecourse.

“One of the main reasons I developed this hotel was to give racing staff a superior level of accommodation when they bring horses to compete at the racecourse, and I know with this excellent management team in place we’ll be able to offer a service that’s truly second to none.

“They all have a great deal of experience to bring to the table, and their expertise will undoubtedly make them a formidable team.”
