Bakkavor Meals Wigan, part of Bakkavor, the UK’s leading provider of fresh prepared food, is pleased to announce that a further 21 individuals have passed its award-winning Apprenticeship Programme, furthering their careers within the business.
Bakkavor Meals Wigan, which employs over 1,000 people, has been successfully running a bespoke training programme since 2014 which enables individuals to undertake professional qualifications in Food Manufacturing Excellence Level 3 and Improving Operational Performance Level 2. Both qualifications focus on equipping individuals with the necessary skills for a rewarding career in the food manufacturing industry.
This takes the number of employees that have received investment for professional qualifications at Bakkavor Meals Wigan to 78 over the past 5 years. The business believes it’s fundamental to develop their employees from within as it supports Bakkavor’s growth plans by having the right talent and capability onsite to grow and succeed.
The Bakkavor Meals Apprenticeship Programme was recognised at The Food Manufacture Excellence Awards in 2017 as ‘Training Programme of the Year’ and continues to improve year on year.
As a group, Bakkavor prides itself on being a local employer of choice across its communities. Over 250 people in the UK are currently part of the Bakkavor Apprenticeship Programme covering a broad range of training specialisms including engineering, manufacturing and new product development.
