Greggs set to develop vegan versions of top-sellers

Following on from the success of Greggs' vegan sausage roll this year, the high street bakery chain is planning to expand its vegan offer.

If the brand's development work is successful, its favourites like steak bakes, doughnuts and pasties will be available in vegan-friendly versions.

Greggs chief executive, Roger Whiteside, revealed the plans in an interview with LBC. He said, 'We are working away to see if we can come up with a version of all our bestselling lines because people want vegan options.

'If we can produce something that tastes just as good as the meat version, then that will sell very successfully. That’s what’s been shown with the vegan sausage roll.'

The company's vegan Quorn sausage roll sold out quickly in stores across the UK in January.
