Buzzworks Ball celebrates rising stars

Independent hospitality group, Buzzworks Holdings has hosted its annual Buzzworks Ball and recognised the achievements of 15 outstanding members of staff.

The glamourous celebration, which had a sophisticated 1920’s theme this year, brings together over 300 staff members who work within Buzzworks head office and portfolio of venues in Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and West Lothian.

The Buzzworks Ball is the biggest event in the groups’ calendar and aims to both celebrate and thank everyone within the company for their hard work, dedication and superb hospitality all year round. To ensure everyone can be part of it, all venues close early for one night only.

This year guests arrived at Troon Town Hall to a 1920's speakeasy themed Champagne reception with live music from local musicians The Miss's ahead of a three course meal.

Hosted by West FM's Billy Kirkwood, the party was packed with entertainment including singing and dancing from Operations Managers, Stephen Buchanan and Rick Houston, a nine-piece swing band, street and tap dancing, light shows and a pyrotechnic fireworks display finale.

The event provides a backdrop to recognise and reward outstanding employees throughout the business, by crowning a ‘Team Member of the Year’ at all 11 venues, alongside one head office award.

Each winner was chosen by their venue managers and presented with an award on the night from Buzzworks Chairman Colin Blair, Managing Director Kenny Blair and People Director Carole Lamond.

The 2020 Team Members of the Year are:
Head office – Cameron Limond, Graphic Designer

Director of Buzzworks Holdings, Alison Blair said, “We are extremely proud of our people through their hard work and commitment to both Buzzworks and our customers all year round.

'They deserve more than a simple, traditional staff night out after a busy festive period, so that’s why we aim to go the extra mile and put months of preparations into creating an extravagant night that everyone can enjoy. This year’s Ball was our biggest and best to date.

“It’s important for us to reward our venue teams and recognise their achievements – so our annual Buzzworks Ball is for them.”

The 2020 event also welcomed three new awards, open to anyone within the company and representing Buzzworks core values; grow forward together, care with flair and value every voice.

The ‘grow forward together’ award was presented to Eilidh Logan, bartender at Scotts in Largs. Eilidh started with Buzzworks as a junior front of house assistant and very quickly progressed into the position of a server bartender within one year. As an exceptional example of this core value, Eilidh has recently moved to Buzzworks latest venture, The Duke in Kilmarnock to assist with the venue launch, supporting business growth.

Assistant Manager at Scotts Troon, Beth Neilson, was awarded the ‘care with flair’ title. Beth was recognised as an outstanding and attentive member of the team at Scotts who is loved by her colleagues and customers. Her caring nature, hard work and ability to use her style and originality within the venue is second to none.

Vic’s & The Vine General Manager Holli Kerr took home the ‘value every voice’ award. Holli has worked with Buzzworks for five years and is an incredible example and ambassador of the business, regularly taking time to spend with her team. She understands that the ideas of every individual is important and as a business, Buzzworks mirrors this ethos.
