£620k Co-op with food market feel opens in Oxfordshire

Co-op Midcounties has just opened a brand-new Your Co-op Food store on Faringdon Road, Southmoor, Oxfordshire, creating 15 new jobs for the local area following a £620k investment.

The new 2,650 sq ft store will have a ‘food market’ feel, stocking over 260 locally sourced fresh products from its Best of our Counties range, from Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire based producers such as Oxford Cheese Company, Hobbs House Bakery, Todenham Manor Farm and Jess’s Ladies dairy farm.

Shoppers will also be able to try the latest tipples at the in-store ‘gin bar’ which will stock an impressive range of spirits, including local award-winning Cotswolds Distillery Gin.

Customers will be able to enjoy a wide range of groceries and stock up on essentials for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including the renowned Cook frozen range and an extensive hot and cold food-to-go offering. For those needing a pick-me-up while shopping, Co-op Midcounties Members can enjoy a free hot drink every time they shop in-store.

The store also boasts environmentally conscious additions including plastic waste recycling bins, compostable carrier bags and energy-efficient fridges, demonstrating Co-op Midcounties commitment to sustainability.

Co-op Midcounties has taken this one step further with its recently launched ‘1Change’ environmental initiative which asks customers to make one change to their current shopping habits by making plastic-conscious purchasing decisions.

The store has a 15-strong team of colleagues including store manager and qualified wine expert Ryan Thomas, who will also be on-hand to offer customers expert guidance on making the perfect choice for every occasion.

Ryan Thomas, store manager at Your Co-op Food store in Southmoor, said, ‘This is no ordinary store, it’s where quality, passion and great food come together. The team has been working hard to bring the best of local produce to the shelves, and we have an impressive range of artisan and locally made products for customers to enjoy.'
