Co-op launches online shopping to Isle of Man

Online shopping at the Co-op is set to click with its customers as the convenience retailer launches its first on demand home delivery service on the island from its Ramsey store.

The same day service allows shoppers to select from around 4,000 products on Co-op’s own dedicated online shop (coop.co.uk/shop) - which offers home delivery or click and collect slots in as little as two hours.

Products are selected and picked by the Co-op in Ramsey, stores are an integral part of the new online service by working as micro distribution hubs locally.

A click and collect service is also available through the online shop - making shopping easier, quicker and more convenient for customers who are shopping for themselves, or for friends, relatives, neighbours or volunteers in communities shopping for others.

The online delivery service travels up to 10.5KM across the IM8, and part of the IM7, postal area in the north of the island including Cornaa, Smeale, Maughold, Bride, Kerrowmoar and Sartfield.

The new online offer comes ahead of the Co-op marking the 100th anniversary of its first store on the Isle of Man, which opened in Duke Street in 1920.

The special anniversary year will also see Co-op open a new store on the Isle of Man later this year in Crosby, creating new local jobs and taking the convenience retailer’s store count on the island to eleven.

Andy Corrie, Co-op Area Manager, said, “This is an exciting year for our Co-op, marking 100 years since our first store opened we will see the launch of an online service for the first time, and a new store opening later in the year.

'With our store colleagues locally carefully selecting the products the service really does compliment clicks and bricks - the Co-op has a proud past, and an exciting future as we continue to work to get closer to our Members and customers.”

Items ordered through the online shop also benefit from the Co-op’s Membership scheme, where Members receive a 5% reward when purchasing own-brand products, and the Co-op donates a further 1% to local causes.

Jason Perry, Co-op Head of Online Development, said: “Quality, ease and convenience is at the core of our approach and we continue to innovate and expand access to our products in order to offer greater flexibility and choice locally to meet the needs of our communities.”
