TRG chains partner with Too Good To Go to combat food waste

TRG's Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito have partnered with Too Good To Go, the food app with a conscience, to reduce food waste. Too Good To Go allows users to buy surplus food from restaurants, retailers and producers rather than letting it go to waste.

To get their hands on the delicious food, consumers need to download the free Too Good To Go app and search for nearby participating businesses with unsold food. App users then purchase a ‘Magic Bag’, collect it at an allotted time and take it away to enjoy.

The partnership has started with selected Frankie and Benny’s and Chiquito restaurants listed below, with the brands hoping to expand across more restaurants in the future.

Consumers can purchase a ‘Magic Bag’ for as little as £3.60 from restaurants via the Too Good To Go app from today.

Mark Chambers, CEO Leisure & Concessions, commented, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Too Good To Go, an excellent initiative which will help us to reduce our waste and work closer with our local communities.

'Particularly as we go into our second lockdown, we want to ensure that any surplus food from our restaurants is being managed and that the people who need it have access to it, so we are very excited to see this relationship develop and grow.”

Paschalis Loucaides, UK Country Manager, Too Good To Go, said, “Wasting good food doesn’t make sense at any time, let alone during a pandemic. That’s why we’re thrilled that Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito have joined us, and our community of over 4,000 partner stores, to fight food waste in the UK.

'As our first national restaurant brand partnerships, Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito are showing real leadership in tackling food waste. The impact we can have together is huge - not only will their restaurants’ great food get eaten and enjoyed, but we’ll be preventing harmful emissions that occur when food goes to landfill. It’s a win-win.”
